Pantone Colour of the Year 2022
For the first time ever, the Pantone Color Institute has created a new shade from scratch for their chosen Colour of the Year for 2022: Very Peri – “A new Pantone colour whose courageous presence encourages personal inventiveness and creativity”.
Described as a “dynamic periwinkle blue hue with vivifying violet-red undertone that blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red”, the 2022 Colour of the Year – Very Peri – promises to evoke a feeling of calmness and tranquillity whilst simultaneously injecting a pop of vibrancy and energy into your interior space.
The Pantone Color Institute typically chooses the colour of the year that reflects the spirit and mood of the time.
As we emerge from an intense period of isolation, our notions and standards are changing, and our physical and digital lives have merged in new ways… Very Peri illustrates the fusion of modern life and how colour trends in the digital world are being manifested in the physical world and vice versa.

When it comes to Very Peri, you can achieve a pop of colour by introducing a painted wall or accent furniture. For a more subtle touch, consider including the colour in home accessories such as glassware, ceramics, vases and ornaments. Very Peri really blossoms through upholstery and tapestry, for this you can look for cushions, throws or even bedding with purple hues. You can even work the colour into your home by adding a couple of stems of lavender to your favourite vase or introducing some statement artwork to your walls.
If you don’t want to drastically change your interior palette, there are plenty of colours that will complement the versatile Very Peri:
Neutral Whites & Greys:
If you have a predominantly white or grey colour scheme, whether it be through your wall paint or flooring, you will have no problem introducing Very Peri to your home. Don’t be afraid to experiment with bold patterns such as stripes or geometric shapes. The futuristic element of the colour combined with these patterns will result in an overall modern, clean look. Alternatively, you can play with softer styles such as floral or botanical patterns in order to achieve a more subtle appearance.
Warm Creams & Beige:
Thanks to its dynamic nature and its mix of underlying cool and warm tones, Very Peri doesn’t just complement cooler shades but it also pairs seamlessly with warm tones such as cream and beige. Both beige and Very Peri are calming, harmonious colours which makes them the perfect pair. Oak flooring and furniture both provide an excellent canvas on which to start building your Very Peri masterpiece.
Earthy Browns & Greens:
We bet you didn’t see that one coming! The warm, earthy tones found in nature work as a great companion to really make Very Peri pop. These two colours balance each other out to create a harmonious atmosphere in your home. You can achieve this by creating an earthy backdrop for your Very Peri decorative items with the addition of natural wooden furniture and plenty of plants – recreating the peaceful ambience that can be found in nature.
